We opted not to go with illumination on the second generation for a few reasons one was that we updated the reticle design from a BDC in the Gen I to a full MIL etched tactical Christmas Tree style design in the Gen II. Illumination gets a little trickier here with this style of reticle and we didn't like the way the old illumination system functioned with the updated design.
The P-47 Thunderbolt has 10 illumination settings to choose from. To access the illumination settings simply depress the On/Off button located on the top of the Ocular lens. Press the button consecutively up to ten times to obtain the brightness that you require. The illumination will turn off after you hit the button for the 11th time. Special note: At any time you can turn the illumination on and off by pressing and holding the On/Off button for 3+ seconds.
Why is it not illuminated anymore? I would have preferred the illumination option. Was it a cost savings to make it more affordable ?
To clarify the P-47 Thunderbolt Gen I is illuminated the Gen II (currently for sale) is not.
